Vets Housing Vouchers In The Thousands Go Unused
VA Homeless Program Office acknowledged 14,000 vouchers went unused last year, even though an estimated 38,000 veterans are still considered homeless. The department has about 650 case management positions currently vacant. Federal hiring rules coupled with the slow pace of federal contracting rules have made filling the positions and processing more vouchers difficult.
