I was honored to be a part of my first Art Show. The theme was Bless This Space and was open to people who had been touched by addiction. I've never done an artist's statement before so it was a very humbling experience for me. But one I treasure.

I was asked to create a piece of Custom #ArtWork for a lady I met...She wanted something to represent how she feels whenever she goes on vacation by herself..She enjoys doing things away from the crowds..Exploring on her own...with an emphasis on green, earthy tones to blend in with her office..I gave her..

Off The Beaten Path

Cheers

One of my favorite pieces of #ArtWork..I actually wrote a few words with this when I first introduced it..Here's what I had said.

Whether you believe in their existence or not..to me the Phoenix is one of the most remarkable creatures ever conceived. To be able to withstand undue cruelty..and take it in stride. It uses these experiences and lessons to rebuild its armor...its heart...even its wicked soul. It can be beaten..tormented and ultimately left for dead. Dark and cynical? Of course..but then who would I be if not sincere in admitting my twisted ways of thinking. Like the Phoenix..I suffer from inner conflict. I have laid on the ground and felt the ashes slip through my fingers..my mothers ashes..friends ashes..even my very own. Gritty and grey..yet comforting in its silk-like texture. The real challenge is knowing when to stand again..when to brush off the remnants of ghosts past and present. When to let go...and let yourself go. This is my lesson I'm struggling to learn.
I created this piece of art yesterday..I was compelled to do this and I realize it is not a 'pretty' piece..shades of grey overlapping and stopping abruptly..it's not perfect..it's not full of joy...but like the Phoenix it is full of determination...full of life...and in a strange macabre way...full of beauty.
Btw, here is a random bit of useless knowledge for all of you Zodiac enthusiasts..every zodiac sign is represented by a particular animal..the Scorpio (which I'm proud to be) is one of the few who is represented by two creatures..the Scorpion...and the Phoenix.
Be proud of who you are..your pros and cons...without them...you would be nothing. I'll be 45 this year and am truly blessed that everyday I'm still learning something new.
So I leave it up to you...take away what you will with this creation...I already have.

Phoenix Rising

Cheers
