Here's the final image I was working on earlier. It's David's BB8 toy which is basically a Sphero with a head on. It's super neat and about 3 inches across. The head is about 1.5 inches.
The reason I took this is that I've just installed the new firmware on my E-M1 which has added focus blending and focus stacking. That means the camera will automatically vary the focal point and take multiple pictures. This is really useful for macro pictures where the depth of focus is often very small. You can shoot lots of pictures with different focal points and then blend them to make a picture which is sharp from front to back - as you see here.
I tried this with the in-camera focus stacking which uses only 8 shots. And then I tried it again using focus bracketing and took 30 shots which I blended in Photoshop. As you might expect the bracketing method gave better results, though the in-camera stacking was still *very* good.
