California's Alabama Hills provide excellent views of Mt. Whitney and the Sierra. The dark hues of the of the Alabama Hills in the foreground and the lighter Sierra in the background are a wonderful contrast. This image, taken just after sunset, shows a progression of light from the Alabama Hills to the Sierra and the painted sky. What a wonderful place to photograph!
