The view of Kauai's Kalalau Valley from the Kalalau Lookout, in Koke`e State Park, is best described as beautiful and illusive. The view is often of a sea of clouds obscuring its beauty; but when it does appear, it captures your eye and seemingly will not let go. When it is fully visible, it’s still a bit illusive as the plants mask parts of the valley. Shortly after I took this photo, clouds filled the valley. So if you want to see this magnificent valley, go early in the day and do not be disappointed if it eludes you ... for that is its nature.
Hawaii’s “Garden Island”, Kauai, receives a lot of rain (especially heading into the winter months) ... so having a cloudy sunset isn't unusual. The clouds were broken enough yesterday for the setting sun to light them, making for wonderful color and tone.
