We take pictures to capture the memories of the people, places and moments worth reliving. Instagram was created to give people easy yet expressive ways to share these photos. Today, Instagram has announced a new feature called Photos of You, giving you a simple way to share and discover stories. Now when you upload photos to Instagram, you can also tag people and brands, along with hashtags. Only you can add people to your photos, giving you control over the images that you share.
Instagram explained their inspiration behind the new app:
Your captions and hashtags capture the “what?” and your Photo Map answers the “where?” but until today we’ve never quite been able to answer the “who?”.
You can find the Photos of You section on your profile. Whenever someone adds you to a photo, you'll receive a notification and the photo will then also appear in your Photos of You. And in case your worried about being tagged in photos you don't like (similar to the Facebook issue), you can easily adjust your settings so nothing appears on your profile without your approval. Instagram mentioned that you'll have until May 16th to play around with and get acclimated to this new feature before it goes live.
