NFL Week 12 Predictions 2013
The Kansas City Chiefs will not have an undefeated season this year. KC played tough in Denver last week, but just didn’t have the offense to stay with the Broncos. They look to bounce back today against the San Diego Chargers at home. Next week they welcome the Broncos to Arrowhead.
The Denver Broncos once again find themselves in the game of the week. Denver faces the New England Patriots Sunday night in a frigid Foxboro. The viewing public never gets sick of Peyton Manning facing Tom Brady. The Patriots are 7-3, but this is a less dominate version of New England than we’ve seen the past few years.
Belichick has a history of leading the Patriots to a big effort and successful record after a loss, and they’re 36-19 ATS as an underdog. The last time the Patriots were a home underdog was 2005. New England has enjoyed a record of 35-3 at home in their last 38.
Sunday 1:00 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions (-9)
Matchup:The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now won 2 in a row and now travel to Detroit to meet the Lions. The Lions are off the battle with the Steelers in which they fell 37-27. The Lions are all offense, but a defense that is 26th in the league.
Steve’s Pick: Lions 31 Bucs 24
Dan’s Pick: Lions 33 Bucs 23
Matt’s Pick: Lions 31 Bucs 20
Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (-10)
Matchup:This is arguably the ugliest game of the year. Houston has lost 8 in row and somehow is a 10 point favorite. They are that big of a favorite because the Jaguars are awful. It’s almost impossible to lay the wood here on the Texans. Stay away.
Steve’s Pick: Texans 23 Jaguars 20
Dan’s Pick: Texans 23 Jaguars 10
Matt’s Pick: Texans 21 Jaguars 17
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (-4.5)
Matchup:What a difference a star quarterback makes for a team in the NFL. The Packers have done nothing without All-Pro Aaron Rodgers, losing 3 in a row including the game where he went down. The Vikings have been dreadful this year (2-8), but should be motivated to face their division foe.
Steve’s Pick: Packers 23 Vikings 20
Dan’s Pick: Packers 28 Vikings 24
Matt’s Pick: Packers 20 Vikings 17
San Diego at Kansas City (-4.5)
Matchup:The Chiefs fell for the first time last week as they went down in Denver. The Chiefs played tough and kept it close, but they just can’t score. The Chiefs will the face the Broncos again next week, so yes this is a sandwich spot for them. San Diego is off a tough loss in Miami, and at 4-6 every game is a must win.
Steve’s Pick: Chiefs 24 Chargers 23
Dan’s Pick: Chiefs 27 Chargers 20
Matt’s Pick: Chiefs 24 Chargers 21
Carolina Panthers (-4.5) at Miami Dolphins
Matchup:The Carolina Panthers have now won 6 in row, the last two against the 49ers and Patriots. The Dolphins bounced back last week against the Chargers, and now stand at 5-5. This is a tough spot for the Panthers off the two marquee wins. Miami needs the game, and the low 80′s temperatures should help the Dolphins as well.
Steve’s Pick: Dolphins 23 Panthers 20
Dan’s Pick: Panthers 27 Panthers 24
Matt’s Pick: Panthers 27 Dolphins 21
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (-2)
Matchup:The Steelers are playing better off the tough start, and have won 2 in a row. The Browns jumped off to 2 touchdown lead against Bengals and then imploded. Both teams stand at 4-6. The Steeler have won 23 of the last 26 against Cleveland.
Steve’s Pick: Steelers 27 Browns 23
Dan’s Pick: Steelers 28 Browns 20
Matt’s Pick: Steelers 27 Browns 23
Chicago Bears at St. Louis Rams (-1)
Matchup:The Bears finally pulled out a wild one last week at home against Baltimore. There was a big delay in that game with the tornado. They finally prevailed in OT (23-20). The Rams are off a bye, and at 4-6 every game is must win for them going down the stretch.
Steve’s Pick: Rams 29 Bears 17
Dan’s Pick: Rams 27 Bears 23
Matt’s Pick: Bears 26 Bears 23
New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)
Matchup:These two teams are nearly impossible to figure out. The Jets win every other game, so they are due today. The Ravens seem to play every game close, and their last two have gone to overtime. Chilly and wind conditions should keep this low scoring.
Steve’s Pick: Raven 20 Jets 14
Dan’s Pick: Raven 30 Jets 23
Matt’s Pick: Raven 24 Jets 17
Sunday 4:05 PM
Tennessee Titans at Oakland Raiders (PK)
Matchup:The Raiders picked up a nice win on the road against the hapless Texans. The Titans played 10 days ago, losing an emotional game to the Colts at home. The Titans are 4-0 ATS on the road this year.
Steve’s Pick: Titans 31 Raiders 23
Dan’s Pick: Raiders 27 Titans 23
Matt’s Pick: Titans 20 Raiders 14
Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Cardinals (-2.5)
Matchup:The Colts had the extra 3 days to prepare for Arizona as they face their interim coach from last year, Bruce Arians. The Cardinals are quietly 6-4 and have won 3 in a row. They gain an edge with Arians so familiar with the Indianapolis system and personnel.
Steve’s Pick: Cardinals 27 Colts 20
Dan’s Pick: Colts 33 Cardinals 27
Matt’s Pick: Colts 28 Cardinals 27
Sunday 4:25 PM
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants (-2.5)
Matchup:This is a big NFC East showdown in New Jersey. The story here might be weather. Temperatures in the 20′s and wind gusts at 40mph will definitely affect both teams. The Cowboys, with the better running game, may find the poor weather advantageous. The Giants stand at 4-6 and the Cowboys are 5-5.
Steve’s Pick: Cowboys 17 Giants 16
Dan’s Pick: Cowboys 30 Giants 20
Matt’s Pick: Cowboys 26 Giants 23
Sunday 8:30 PM
Denver Broncos (-2.5) at New England Patriots
Matchup:These teams met last year in Foxboro with the Patriots coming away with the win 31-21. The Broncos are the cream of the crop in the AFC, and will have revenge on their minds. The Patriots are off the tough loss Monday night in Carolina, and are back to back underdogs for the first time since 2006. The game will be played in the teens, and Peyton has generally not fared welled in cold weather.
Steve’s Pick: Patriots 24 Broncos 23
Dan’s Pick: Broncos 34 Patriots 28
Matt’s Pick: Broncos 40 Patriots 28
Monday 8:40 PM
San Francisco 49ers (-5.5) at Washington Redskins
Matchup:The 49ers have lost two tight ones in a row at the hands of the Panthers and Saints. They could have won both games. The 49ers feed off losing teams so this should be an easy one against the Redskins. The Redskins got down 24-0 last week against the Eagles, but made late run only to fall short 24-16. The RG3 honeymoon is over in Washington.
Steve’s Pick: 49ers 34 Redskins 17
Dan’s Pick: 49ers 37 Redskins 27
Matt’s Pick: 49ers 29 Redskins 20
